If you watched this video you'll know that one of my aims this year is to use more makeup. Not buy more makeup, god knows I have the stuff coming out of my ears, but to use different products rather than sticking to the tried and tested old faithfuls. My makeup storage is not the easiest to navigate and quite frankly I don't leave myself a great deal of time in the morning to sit and sift through the products to try new things. I know which products will cover my spots, stop me looking shiny, and prevent me having panda eyes by midday and I tend to stick to them, but that is a tad lazy for a beauty blogger to say the least.
I have devised a pioneering technique at the forefront of scientific research in order to ensure that products I should be using and reviewing get, well, used and reviewed.
I call this technique: putting different stuff in your makeup bag.
I bought this clear makeup bag from Tesco last year (love saying that in January) because its easy to keep clean, easy to see everything, and the right size to prevent me from carrying every blusher I own around with me like some kind of high maintenance blusher princess from hell. I take it to Matt's with me where I spend half of the week, and it sits on my dressing table and means that when I'm getting ready in the morning I can look from my makeup drawers in sheer panic to the simplified bag with my favourite stuff in it whilst a sea of calm washes over me. Quite frankly, it makes me feel like a normal person, which is always a good thing. I do however, tend to stick to the same things in there - Chanel foundation, Collection 2000 concealer, YSL mascara, Bobbi Brown Blusher, L'Oreal liner, Bourjois Bronzer, A couple of unimaginative lipsticks, and then the too-big-to-fit but oh so handy Naked palette.
This morning I filled my bag with some old faithfuls, but also some things I've either never used or want to use up. There's a primer in there, because I'm horrible at using primer, and a few different bits and bobs I've wanted to review for a while. If you see anything you want to know more on, let me know! I aim to do a couple more of these as I switch the products up (hence why this is labelled 1) so keep your eyes peeled! I confess, the Naked palette still travels with me. Baby steps...

Your posts are so interesting. Sometimes i find it hard to read peoples blogs but i just fly through yours because im so interested! I found your blog a couple of days ago (i watch you on YouTube) and im glad i found it. Great post and good idea mixing the make-up in your make-up bag every so often. Going to try this, need to use so much more of the products i own rather than my holy products.

I love your blog and YouTube channel, I have watched very single one of your videos!this is a great post because I'm just the same, always stick to the same products even though i have drawers of makeup
Xx
That Une products looks so shineeeeyy! I like the look of the Mac shadow there, the wee one by itself :) I love mushroomy colours like that!
I am exactly the same, I have my day-to-day make up bag and can literally throw it in my bag and I would be sorted for everything, but it is good to mix it up every now and again!

The reviews I'm most curious about are: the Body Shop Bronzer (or any Body shop make up, because it usually is not expensive at all, but I never gave it a try!) and Mac Studio Finish Concealer (I want to know if this is ALL that people say it is!) :)
Thx!! :)
I love your blog!

What a great idea, I think I need to get a clear bag for my makeup and mix it up every so often. So much of my stuff gets overlooked so this would definitely get me to use more of a variety! xx
I do a similar thing every week on my blog; a 'make up shake up' so that I can alternate my products! A few other blogger do too, I got the idea from The Sunday Girl. Great way to change things up and prevent getting stuck in a make up rut :)
This is such a good idea x
One of my resolutions this year is also to use more makeup.. Go through my everyday stuff every month and try to switch products so i can enjoy my entire collection and not just a few pieces =)
I'm awful for sticking to the same products all the time. If I love something then I keep using it and everything else gets left in the drawer. I know as a beauty blogger, you feel pressured to constantly be using new things, but I'd rather use things that work for me. I know for the last couple of weeks I haven't changed a single thing about my daily makeup (not even blush or eyeshadows!), I need to take a leaf out of your book and switch things up a bit so things get used!
I loveee your blog im so happy you've started posting every day :D please continue you never fail to keep me amused :)
i'm terrible for getting stuck into my ways makeup wise and just never bothering to try anything new! with me, if it's neutral it's all i need!

Hahaha well done! These look pretty :)
I must say I get anxiety symptoms at the idea of chosing ONE of my blushes (Sophie's choice, really) but I do get that it would make life easier in the morning. Oh well...
The blush palette looks so nice, I really want to try it. I must confess that I purchased the body shop bronzer because of you...even though I have a drawer full, oopsie :)

Love this idea. Think I'm definitely going to adopt this masterfully-crafted and fully scientific method of using up makeup. Definitely need to 'shop my stash' a bit more and use up what I have before buying more and more. Would love to hear what you think of the Studio Finish concealer, I've always found it to be very drying and cakey looking but maybe I'm using it wrong! x

I'm pretty much the same with makeup, I tend to mix up my blushers and nothing else. This is such a nice simple way to mix up all your makeup, looking forward to seeing the other makeup mixups you do.
I think this is so true of most girls. We have so much makeup, but how many people can honestly say they make the most of what they have? I know I don't!
I was given a free Kiehl's clear makeup bag when I was popping into John Lewis just before Christmas, & I use that, but it's huge. It's fits all my daily essentials, as well as everything else I've used & quite often the previous days bits! Having just cleared it out tonight, I had my foundation & f.brush, 3 lipsticks, 2 eyeshadows, and about 5 eyeliners - ridiculous!
I am consciously trying to switch up what's in my makeup bag so your posts should help me remember & look forward to it :)
Steph xx
I so need to do this!
