shiny and new

I mentioned in my last post that something cheap and cheerful had been keeping my hair super shiny of late and promised to reveal all today. In case the photos weren't a massive clue, its the Herbal Essences Hello Hydration mask. I have never tried Herbal Essences before, which might be surprising since its a very accessible brand, but this was my first hit of the Essence, so to speak. To be honest, I bought it because it was cheap. I was in Sainsburys and my hair was feeling horrendous. I was going out for a meal that night and wanted something to whack on my hair before I went. I wasn't staying at home so I couldn't raid my beauty arsenal to get something, and these were reduced from the usual price (RRP between £4-5) to £1.79. I used it with no expectations and my hair was amazingly soft and shiny, almost too soft! My usual styling routine left it a bit flat but the next time I used it I tweaked my routine for more volume and was in love with how shiny my hair was.

On the drive home I passed another Sainsburys and, well, this happened.

I think the image speaks for itself, but I'm in love. I thought I would save myself buying conditioner for a while and snap these up since they are under £2 at the moment. No idea what the others are like but the scents intrigued me and I know the blue one is a keeper. For reference it smells like Hawaiian Tropic sun tan lotion, which is quite possibly one of my favourite things ever because it reminds me of being somewhere warm, eating a lot, being horizontal and reading. All good stuff I'm sure you'll agree.

Now, I know what you're going to say, these bad boys are full of silicone and they don't really do anything other than coat your hair. The thing is, I'm okay with that. My hair reacts nicely to silicone, it loves the stuff. Don't get me wrong, I've tried so hard not to use it, remember that phase when I lived in Valencia when I tried co-washing? Remember when I stopped using sulphates and silicones? Even after the initial stages when I'd been using the products for 5 or 6 months, my hair was dry and unhappy. My frazzled, abused locks love silicone and probably always will. If you're trying to avoid it these tubs of shiny wonder probably aren't for you, but if that kind of stuff doesn't bother you, snap those bambinos up whilst they are so cheap!

I use the red beautiful ends one on my hair and its amazing. Leaves my hair split end free, smelling quite nice for a while and so soft! Well worth the price. I love it!

Haha I can't believe you bought that many! You'll save money in the long run though :) Hair's looking so healthy!

I love the blue tub too, it smells amazing!
I found my tub in the pound shop, bargain! :)
xx

I have the Beautiful Ends one but I'm the opposite of you and my hair hates too much silicone. :( It's fine and flat so the mask just make it really flat and lank. It smelt lovely and looked really shiny but that's it. I'm using it up as a shaving cream instead!

Herbal Essences smell sooooo good. Just a shame that my hair gets oily quickly & is really thin or I would use them all the time. What I would give to have thicker hair :/

xo.

Lol I def want to try this now! x

I loved the way these smell... ive tried both the Beautiful ends and hello hydration! but unfortunately my hair didnt care much for them. Still made my hair smell amazing for days though... :D

Ok I'm totally going out to buy one of these tomorrow, I've read lots of good blog reviews about it lately. Don't think I'll be buying that many though haha! xx

haha makes me laugh how you have so many! good idea though - i love the tresemme hair mask but might try these as even at full price they're cheaper!

I absolutely love Herbal Essences! But there's no sainsburys near me :'(!! my hair is super dead as well!

Haha, well I suppose it's thrifty to buy so many when they're on offer! Tbh I like trying new things so much I'd never in a million years get through so many of the same products before another one caught my fancy.

I'm into anything to prevent split ends at the moment so might pop in to get the red one when I'm next doing my shopping!

x

I really don't understand people's anti-silicone stance, especially since Moroccan Oil basically does the exact same thing, just with argan oil rather than silicone. Neither of these ingredients do anything to rebuild or prevent breakage to your hair - personally, this doesn't bother me is I've got other products for that and like the soft, shiny effect they give x

I wish I'd of had these results from this! It didn't seem to do anything more for my hair than the normal Hello Hydration conditioner (which is amazing for a normal conditioner, but definitely doesn't give the results of a mask). Might give te split ends one a go whilst it's on offer though, I've heard good things! x

I love these as well! I think I probably have about 4 in my stash from picking them up when they're on offer as well. I think the red one is my favourite xx

I used to use the Thai Infusions Herbal Essences, can't remember the scent but it was in a pale blue bottle - that left my hair silky smooth! Shall be taking a sneak peek when i go to Sainsburys this Friday! :D x

I have a 50p off voucher for this stuff- must try it!

I use the Beautiful Ends one and surprisingly, it actually works :)

I really want the beautiful ends one because i love the conditioner. But I cant find it anywhere!

i've used the hot pink one (beautiful ends) before and it was really good!

I've used this before but I prefer the John Frieda FRIZZ-EASE Miraculous Recovery Mask. Highly recommend that! :)

So weird I bought this literally just before i read your post!

Oooooh you got me super intrigued with this. My poor hair has been through so much and I dont care whats in it tbh as long as it makes my hair feel good. x x

I'm currently on my year abroad in JaƩn, Spain and just by chance I actually bought this today as I'm missing all my normal haircare bits that aren't readily available here. I'll try the red split-end one next.

I normally bypass these too, but might just trry, your hair looks amazing!

ah i'm so trying these badboys! i recently bought the new herbal essence for curly hair and was pleasently suprised! :-) xxx

I had Hello Hydration shampoo and i love that smell!

I share you're love for these. I've tried all of them and love them soooo much. My bathroom shelf wouldn't look the same without one :)

Wow! - Your hair is so gorgeous and shiny!! I think I'll need to try these - the face they smell of Hawaiian Tropic makes me even more excited!

So funny when I scrolled down to the photo of what happened!
