Am I the only one feeling like it’s been an eternity since the last Glossybox? I think it’s because I got my March box in February, or maybe time is playing tricks on me, but I feel like we skipped a month or two even! Bizarre. Anyway, this month sees the launch of the natural box* including the best of natural and organic beauty. I love the themed boxes, and this one was recycled-looking and had an earthy tone. Here’s what was inside:
Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum: As you all know, I’m a huge fan of getting skincare in these boxes and I’m also a big fan of Caudalie. I have tried another Vinosource product in a previous Glossybox and liked it, so will look forward to using this more. It is lightweight, easily absorbed and went nicely under my day cream. Only criticism is that my sample doesn’t seem to have a lot in at all!
Inika Cosmetics Certified Organic Eyeliner: I don’t think I’ve ever used an organic eyeliner before so this is new for me. I’m not the biggest fan of getting makeup in boxes but that is down to my personal situation and the job I do, and I know a lot of you love the makeup side of things. My liner came in a dark blue and has a lovely creamy consistency and is very pigmented although this will probably be passed on to a friend. A full size product.
MONU Enriched Body Cream: I am a huge fan of MONU and their products (I particularly recommend the cleansing balm!) and these are handy to throw in my gym bag. Not too much to say about this but it’s nicely scented and will come in handy for the gym/travel.
Figs & Rouge Lip Balm: I was really happy to see this! Another full size product, and I’m a huge fan of this brand and product already. I really love multi-purpose balms and although this is listed as a lip balm these can be used anywhere to hydrate, I like to use it on my cuticles. I got peppermint and tea tree which I like as a scent too.
Philip B Drop Dead Straightening Balm: This is the only thing I haven’t used yet because I don’t particularly like to wear my hair straight apart from the odd occasion! I like that it is silicone free, but I’m saving this for a straight hair day!
Overall I think this was a decent box. I personally think it would have been nice for a natural/green box to leave out the shredded paper inserts and maybe add a twist like not send it in a box at all but in something reusable. I know, however that Joliebox have started the bag so maybe Glossybox just didn’t want to follow suit. There are also financial restraints and it might not have worked, but in an ideal world it would have been a nice tie-in for the theme! This is the first box since Carmine merged with Glossybox, so I have to be honest in saying that I didn’t feel the wow factor I was expecting, maybe it’s because one of the full size products was an eyeliner and I have plenty? I don’t know, I just didn’t get very excited about this, but it is still a solid box. Not every box can be amazing or suit everyone, I know people like to be wowed every month but having seen what goes into the planning and the restrictions that need to be worked around, I know it isn’t always as easy as it seems to please a crowd. Not a bad box though, and to end this on a high note, stay tuned for a giveaway tomorrow from one of my favourite brands in this box!
