|Jessica Nails ‘Gelato Mio’ Summer 2012
L-R Lime Cooler, Tangerine Dreamz, Barely Blueberry, Surfer Boyz’nBerry. Banana Peel, Strawberry Shake It.
Earlier this year I did a video on my top ten nail polishes. Without sounding like a diva, I’m quite picky when it comes to nail colours. I’m not really a fan of shimmer or duochrome shades on myself, they tend to make my skintone look really odd, although I love seeing them on other people. Personally I prefer cream finishes of block colour (especially pastels) and glitter, the chunkier the better. When Jessica Nails emailed me after seeing my video saying they thought their new collection is something I’d love, I thought they looked pretty and said I’d give them a go. I’d had Jessica products used on me before in a professional setting in a salon, and I know the quality is excellent, but I’d never used them at home. When the polishes arrived in the post, I literally squealed with excitement upon seeing them. The little blobby colour swatches attached to the press release did not prepare me for how perfect these polishes were in person, I kid you not, if I were to design a polish range this is exactly what it would look like. They are, in a word, dreamy. I applied Barely Blueberry right away it the formula was lovely to work with and wore well. You can see how it looks on the nails here. The Gelato Mio collection will be available here soon at £9.75 each.
Another exciting nail polish release (and I mean it, I was giddy over both of these releases, this is what my life is like!) comes from No7 at Boots. They have two limited edition glitter polishes in the Stay Perfect range – one gold and one silver. Now, I love a good glitter polish at the best of times, but these are like glitter on steroids. Essentially, they are affordable alternatives to the likes of Deborah Lippman and are the same size chunky glitter you’d get with OPI’s Rainbow Connection. I first saw these on the lovely Lisa Eldridge at the Boots press show and now they are finally available and priced at £8 each. I saw her tweet that she was trying to get them in the permanent range. I think we may need some kind of online petition. The people are backing you Lisa! Again, if you want to see how this looks on the nails click here.
I could quite happily have all my other nailpolishes taken away for the summer and just wear these. Colour me impressed. Have you tried these? What are your favourite polishes?
