YSL SPRING 2013

The day a new YSL collection lands on my desk is always a joyous one. Luxe, glossy, special and yes, expensive, but let’s not think about that for a moment. I’ve been hooked on their Faux Cils mascara since I was a teenager splashing my hard-earned pocket money in the beauty hall to get dramatic lashes, and even now as an adult when I buy and use countless beauty products, there is still something special to be said about walking away from a YSL counter with a shiny gold box in your hands, a spring in your step and a dent in your bank balance.

Their Arty Stone collection for Spring 2013 is awash with candy coloured yet wearable hues including a jade nail polish and a peachy glossy stain that I really  need to get my hands on (see the collection here) and I’ve road-tested their cream blush in 7 – Rose and the glossy balm in 12 – Tasty Raspberry.

The Crème de Blush is a perfect springtime flush for those that like a healthy glow without too bright a colour. It blends beautifully and is incredibly pigmented without being difficult to apply. As always with YSL it’s encased in beautiful packaging and has an almost whipped, mousse texture. A little bit of this goes a long way. These can be applied under or over powder which is nice, and they have a great natural finish.

The Volupté Sheer Candy is a luxurious tinted balm in the signature YSL packaging. These won’t impart as much colour as a lipstick, so if pigmentation is incredibly important to you, skip this one. This sheer pink has a tad of shimmer to it, but it’s very grown-up shimmer. Glossy, smooth and incredibly comfortable to wear, these may not stick around all day but they are perfect for daytime wear whenever you want a grown-up injection of moisture.

This collection has a huge thumbs up from me, as always I’m hardly ever disappointed by YSL.

Do you need it? No. Do you want it? Probably.

Do I need it? Do I want it? Oh dear – yes I do. Both products look lovely on you and make your eyes pop. It’s my birthday coming up on Friday…maybe a trip to the YSL counter at The Trafford Centre is needed?

I have to say, I’m a bit scared by the blusher. I don’t think I’d ever be able to make it look as natural as you have! But that balm…I am so all about grown-up shimmer at the moment, and I think this would find a very happy home in my collection :) x

  10. Hey there would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re using? I’m looking to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a hard time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique. P.S My apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!

  11. We absolutely love your blog and find nearly all of your post’s to be exactly I’m looking for. Would you offer guest writers to write content to suit your needs? I wouldn’t mind publishing a post or elaborating on a few of the subjects you write in relation to here. Again, awesome weblog!
We stumbled over here from a different page and thought I might as well check things out. I like what I see so i am just following you. Look forward to going over your web page yet again.
