Happy Easter! I hope you’re all having a lovely long weekend, spending time with your nearest and dearest and eating your fill of chocolate. It’s officially Spring so I thought I would share all the things I like to do to celebrate the changing of the seasons.
Firstly – flowers! I love to buy flowers all year round but there is so much choice in Spring and you don’t have to spend a fortune. I love daffodils, and since I live in a city and don’t have a garden I love to add these to my bedroom and workspace to bring the outdoors in and add some colour. I miss being able to sit outside in the garden for a cup of tea but at least this way I get some nature in my life without having to wander to the nearest park. I love to recycle and re-purpose things where I can so I tied this ribbon from a package I received recently around my vase for a softer look.
I love chevron designs so when I spotted this tea light holder from Wilkinsons I snapped it up. It was super inexpensive but spruces up my home for Spring. I found some coconut milk and mango tealights in Primark that work wonderfully in it.
Speaking of candles the NEOM Contentment candle is the latest one I have tried from them and like the others it’s great and lasts a long time. I know they can be somewhat pricey but they have a great burn time and are amazing quality. If you don’t want to spend as much though, you can get lovely candles to suit your budget so check the video embedded below for ideas.
I love to lighten my makeup in the Spring and opt for a tinted moisturiser or BB Cream. Here are some of my favourites: Shown in picture: FACE Stockholm Tinted Mineral Moisturiser, L’Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream, Clarins BB Cream, The Body Shop All In One BB Cream, N07 Beautiful Skin BB Cream, Dr Jart Water Fuse BB Cream, L’Oreal Code Lumiere BB Cream.
I also like to ditch the powder in the warmer months so here are some of my favourite cream blushes and cheek stains: Shown in picture: Stila Convertible Colour in Camelia, Topshop Cream Blush in Nutmeg, Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Calypso Coral, Liz Earle Cream Blush in Nude, Revlon Photoready in Coral Reef, Giorgio Armani Blushing Fabric in 1, YSL Creme De Blush in 7, Illamasqua Cream Blush in Rude, Benefit Cha Cha Tint.
We have so many great formulas now including tinted balms, non-sticky glosses and moisturising lip formulas so here are some of my favourite Spring lip products:
Shown in picture: Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Fuchsia-Ristic, Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Craving Coral, N07 Stay Perfect in Gay Geranium, Lanolips Lip Ointment With Colour in Sunshine, Mac Lipstick in Costa Chic, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendez-vous, The Body Shop Lipstick in 03, YSL Rouge Volupte in 30, Illamasqua Lipstick in Fable, Lancome Rouge in Love Lipstick in 340B, Lush Lipstick in Believe, Maybelline Baby Lips – Pink, Look Beauty Lipstick in Tangerine Cream, Jouer Tinted Lip Enhancer in Cosmo.
I have to admit pastels and candy colours are staples of mine all year round (I’ll be the one with a mint green nail in November) but here’s a selection of my favourite Spring nail colours: Shown in picture: Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Blueberry, New CID Polish in Peach Cobbler, Jessica Nail Colour in Strawberry Shake it, Jessica Nail Colour in Surfer Boyz n’Berry, American Apparel Nail Lacquer in L’Esprit, Illamasqua Nail Colour in Speckle.
I love to make iced tea in the Spring – this recipe I posted yesterday is a great foolproof base for experimenting with flavours but also tastes great on it’s own. An essential when the weather warms up but until them I’m putting the heating on and pretending it’s sunny.
I also love to add fruit juices to sparkling water for a grown-up and healthier version of a soft drink. It’s always much better to make them yourself because even if you end up sweetening it a little it’s guaranteed to be way better for your body (and your dentist record) than if you got a store-bought one and there are no pesky chemicals you find in diet drinks. Here I’m using Black Cherry Concentrate. I got mine from Holland & Barrett but I’m sure other health food stores will stock similar items – you should find them with the supplements. Add a dash to sparkling water for an adult cherryade. Having a party? This makes a great low calorie base for a cocktail too. Try adding some sloe gin for a sweet spritzer.
See these spring ideas come to life in the video below as well as getting a sneaky peek at my new ‘do. Let me know if you try any out! Which one is your favourite?
