As most of you know, I’m a dedicated lover of the original Stella scent by Stella McCartney. I’ve harped on about it enough at least! It’s what I wear most days but I like to try and mix it up, especially if it’s a day that I’m working from home alone, or just going about my business (whatever that means!) and in the summer months I love clean, light, fruity fragrances, so here are my seasonal picks. Bonus photo of the Daisy bottle because it’s what dreams are made of!
From left to right:
Zara White: This is such a cheap but lovely fragrance. It is clean, and after the initial citrus scent dries down it becomes more powdery, but modern. We aren’t talking old fashioned soap clean either. Very soft and light! Notes are freesia, magnolia, jasmine and amber.
YSL ELLE Limited Edition: This is a juicier, summer version of the original Elle, and comes in eau de toilette form. Lighter than the original Elle, it is fruity but with a warm base that deepens with time. Notes are mandarin, grapefruit, peony, pink pepper, amber and vetiver.
Swarovski Aura: This is a real surprise for me, as I would never in a million years have turned to Swarovski for fragrance. The brand is owned by Clarins and I tested this at a press event and fell in love. Quite strong smelling at first, this settles to a softer scent when it dries down. It isn’t incredibly unique, but it is very feminine, the kind of scent you’d wear to a daytime event in the warmer months in a chic little dress. Notes are rose, pink pepper, tuberose, litci, amber, white musk and benzoin.
Daisy Sunshine by Marc Jacobs: I love the original Marc Jacobs Daisy fragrance but it doesn’t smell great on me unfortunately. This edition however, works really well with my chemistry! This is floral and fruity with hints of the original fragrance and I love it! Notes are mandarin, guava, redcurrant, lily of the valley, violet and musk.
Ralph Lauren Big Pony 1: This is fragrance 1 of 4, and whilst I love them all, 1 and 2 are definitely more my taste. This one is very fresh and citrusy, and quite young smelling as it’s so sweet. For me the citrus notes pull it back from being too juvenile and keep it in the girly realm. Notes are citrus, grapefruit and white lotus.
Ralph Lauren Big Pony 2: Another fresh, fruity and fun one, which I personally think is Ralph Lauren’s forte, I used to be addicted to Ralph in the summer and I may repurchase after pulling these out. This is very fruity and sweet but there is almost a sourness to this and the Big Pony 1 that pull them back to smell fresh and not sickly. This smells delicious and playful. Notes are cranberry and tonka.
So there you have my summer fragrance picks. Have you tried any of these? What is your summer scent?
