My last post on here ended somewhat abruptly, and as most of you know by now via Twitter, this past week has been a bit of a tough one. I wasn’t sure whether or not to write this post, after all, most of you come here for beauty, decor and recipes, but I do share my life on here, for better or worse, and if I write about a day out in the park and what society thinks of Kate Winslet getting re-married, it seemed impossible to resume service without celebrating the life of a wonderful man.
Sadly last week Matt’s family abruptly lost Pete, a devoted husband and father. It was incredibly sudden and a huge shock to everyone. The coming weeks and months will be tough but so many of you sent your support to Matt and his family and I want to say a big thank you for that, you may not know just how appreciated those well wishes are. I only had the pleasure of knowing Pete for a couple of years, but anyone who knew him was instantly won over by his kind, thoughtful personality and his great sense of humour, he was a true gent and instantly welcomed me into the family.
Pete had the gift of allowing anyone to feel totally relaxed in his company, you could be yourself around him and the air was always filled with laughter wherever he went. He was hard working, had a knack for photography and absolutely doted on his family. What happened to Pete eventually comes to us all, but he was taken far too soon, with so many plans and hopes for the future left unfinished. Nothing I can say in this post is truly befitting of such a great man, but I couldn’t gloss over the loss of someone so important to so many people. You may not have known Pete, but the next time you raise a glass or see a beautiful sunset, send some love his way.
