Food diary #6 – Because they can’t all be healthy!
I’m sorry my diaries have been a little thin on the ground recently. A combination of living out of boxes, long drives, not cooking in your own kitchen and eating at times you’re not used to have disrupted my eating patterns somewhat. It’s not always easy to whip out a DSLR and snap a photo of a meal a family member has cooked you in their house, you know? As I mentioned in this post, we are in the process of relocating and looking for a new home, so we drove down to our London flat last week to begin the long process of packing our lives into boxes and turning it into the clean slate it was when we rolled up last year. Not wanting to fill the fridge, and feeling tired, stressed and hungry, we went with convenience food. Like I said when I started these diaries, if I have a not so healthy day, I will show you! Blogs sometimes show an unrealistic, idealised view of life, whether that’s pages of junk food (as if people can magically eat all that and be toned and willowy with clear skin) or ultra-healthy meals with no “cheat” days. That ain’t real and it isn’t a healthy image to portray. Whilst I do enjoy eating healthily and do it most of the time, we all need a little pizza in our lives.
There’s a really great bakery near our flat, so Matt picked us up some fresh croissants (which I promptly filled with strawberry jam) and a flat white for me. My favourite. I haven’t had a croissant in ages for some reason, so I really enjoyed it. I also got to rap to him – “hurry up with my damn croissants” for all you Kanye fans.
First things first – If you are ever needing to grab a quick lunch and you’re near a Waitrose, get this! It was absolutely delicious and I could eat it again right now!
When you’re tired and sat in the middle of boxes and half assembled furniture, there’s only one thing for it. Pizza. You know I could genuinely eat pizza for all three meals of the day if it wasn’t a recipe for a heart attack, I love the stuff. Matt likes pizza but I don’t think he quite shares my passion for it, perhaps nobody does!? We got a veggie pizza with extra mozzarella made in Sainsbury’s and yes I felt full and a little sleepy and yes it was huge but it had to be done.
So there we have it – my not so clean eating food diary! I wish I’d got the chance to snack more during the day as I was a cranky low blood sugar mess before I ate that pizza, but I think that had quite a bit to do with the packing. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
