Breakfast is the best opportunity to kick-start your metabolism and set yourself up for a great day. I’m completely guilty of getting up on a Monday morning, feeling overwhelmed with a to-do list as long as rapunzel’s hair and realising at 11am that I haven’t had breakfast yet. I get grumpy, my blood sugar gets low and I crave all the wrong foods and more than likely end up eating them. As much as we would all love to prepare a gourmet breakfast for ourselves, it can’t always happen, and if you’re in a rush and need a quick fix this is perfect, especially since it pretty much tastes like a dessert!
This protein-packed treat will keep you satisfied for longer, meaning you can get on with your morning without those stomach grumbling interruptions. Here’s the (ridiculously easy) way to make it.
1 frozen banana (gives it more of a shake texture – use a regular banana if you don’t have a frozen one)
1/2 a cup of almond milk (I love Blue Diamond)
1 cup of 0% fat greek or strained yoghurt (Chobani, FAGE etc)
Handful of raspberries, frozen if possible.
Optional – 1/2 a scoop of protein powder (I love Sun Warrior raw protein)
Whizz everything together in a smoothie maker, food processor or hand blender and enjoy! Since the greek yoghurt is packed with protein and I didn’t want too chalky a taste, I opted for half a scoop of protein but if you don’t have a protein powder you can omit this or add more for a post workout snack.
