Home stuff is consuming my every waking thought right now, and even some non-waking thoughts too – yes I’ve had dreams about boilers. There are so many boring yet essential purchases (tile trim anyone?) that come with renovations so when I get chance to shop for the decor, aka the good stuff, it fills me with joy. Move over Selfridges beauty hall, stand aside Topshop, I’m now getting excited about coffee tables and sofas.
I’ve spent a lot of time on Made.com recently, but didn’t immediately realise that they had a physical showroom in London. Judging by the Instagram comments when I told you I was there, neither did a lot of you! I was in London for some filming last week and meetings so I hopped on the tube and headed to Notting Hill to check out the sofas in real life and do some all important comfort testing! Big hello to Nash who I met on the tube on the way over (and who is also sofa hunting right now!) – it was lovely to meet you!
A couple of months ago I fell in love with this sofa, the Vittorio. I spent ages convincing Matt it was ‘the one’ only to find once we were in the house that there ain’t no way, ain’t no how that sofa is fitting in the room. Woe is me. I was really hoping it wouldn’t be on display in the showroom because I was worried I may chain myself to it and refuse to ever leave, and I can confirm that although I managed to drag myself away, it was very comfy and very handsome indeed. It’s definitely the one that got away but if you have space for it and you’re in doubt, it’s a beauty. Vittorio, you’ll make someone very happy one day, but alas it won’t be me.
One sofa that does fit our space and suit our tastes however is the Ritchie (in pearl grey) which looks amazing and is firm but comfy. I think it might be the one but it isn’t on order just yet. If you’re in London I’d really recommend heading over to the showroom. The staff are really friendly and helpful but leave you to your own devices and you can take away fabric samples for any of the sofas/chairs you like. I really like the fact that I could just drop in too, you don’t need an appointment as long as you go within their opening times, which is nice.
