I’m a huge fan of Benefit blushes, but for some reason when I saw this release I didn’t get very excited. I think it was the packaging that initially put me off this product to be honest. As much as it’s what’s inside that counts, I really didn’t get where benefit were going with this release and the look that went with it. It seemed a little gaudy but not in a flashy way, and dare I say it, a little dated. It didn’t call to me shall we say. I was also a little worried about the shimmer that seemed to be all over this product. I have large pores and it means I have to be really careful where I place shimmer on my face if I don’t want to draw attention to it, so this seemed like it would unnecessarily add to this problem.
Once I tried it though I was actually really pleasantly surprised. The rose gold colour isn’t glittery or shimmery but instead just had a flattering sheen to it. The colour isn’t anything that immediately makes you excited but it is quite unique in my collection and perfect for autumn and a host of different eye and lip looks. It’s a great base to start from. I can’t see this working as well for darker skintones in terms of colour payoff but it would be a subtle glow and probably quite flattering. Whilst I didn’t get overly excited this blush is like an album that grows on you, and I’ve been wearing it every day for a week now – we’re going steady.
Have you ever had a makeup product that was a bit of a slow burner but you later fell in love with? What do you think of the packaging for this?
